No, unlike bodybuilders, who train in a more isolated, specific way, we train using functional movements. That is, movements that your body was designed to do. This is the most effective way to build strength, burn fat, and increase cardio capacity. ( and we add in the fun for even extra smiles!)
Will it be hard?
Every workout is designed to be challenging whilst also being scalable to your own personal ability. You will be challenged everyday you come to a class but this will get you exceptional results.
What are the classes like?
Each session includes an extended warm up, skills practice, coaching of technique, the main WOD (Workout Of the Day) and cool down and stretch.
What should I expect at my first workout?
Each session is a fun and challenging experience. Classes start with a dynamic warm-up to get you loosened up and ready to train. After the warm up you will be taken through what the program is for the particular day /class. Once you are ready with your scaling options ( Coach will look after this for you!) and you have ran through the movements the entire class will tackle the WOD together. At the end it’s high fives and fist bumps all round before we hit a cool down and stretch on our upper floor.
Do I need prior experience to take classes?
No. New members participate in our 1-1 BASECAMP SESSIONS and then transition into general classes. Exercises are scaled to improve your basic ability ( and needs!. This sets you up for success for the months and years to come as you progress with your strength & fitness.
Do I have to be fit before I try a classes?
No! … Really you don’t have to be at all!
There is a common misconception that you need some basic level of fitness before starting S&C. The truth is that it is for everyone! You can start the journey where you are today and, if you continue to follow our program, it’s likely that you will get in to the best physical and emotional shape of your life.
Our community is comprised people that had never stepped foot into a gym and people with physical ailments right through to those who use our training program to aid them with their chosen Sport outside the walls of Fitbox. Our program is designed in such a way that it will get results for any committed individual.
Should I warm up and stretch before class?
Yes … providing you want to see the best progress in class! 😉
During your 1-1 Basecamp Sessions, Our Team will show you the warm-up we use to release and unlock the body after a long day at the office // life. We also do a group warm-up in the first 5mins of each class … All we ask is that you come in ready to do some work!
Do you recommend training daily?
No. Maximum benefits are derived from intensity and recovery. We offer a complete health and fitness program, and so we recommend that you take time to recover so that you perform your best at every session. This will prevent injury and backsliding from overtraining. On the other hand it is important that your training is consistent. Generally, we recommend our members train 3 days on and 1 day off.
What can I expect after my first FitBox Session?
It’s our goal that you will feel a part of our amazing community of member ( we’re like family!). You will have certainly learned a ton of new skills and met some great people. It is important to note that you will likely feel a bit sore as well. Particularly if this is the first time you have done physical exercise in this way or if it has been a long time since you have trained. It is important that you move through this soreness and get back moving as soon as possible. The more you move – the better you’ll feel! So make sure you are aware of this before your first class, make sure you are intelligent about the intensity you train with on your first session, and then make sure you come back in as soon as possible to continue your training. Consistency is key!
